Electric Guitar

Overview

Built a fully functional solid-body electric guitar from raw materials over a single semester. The project covered the full construction pipeline — from designing the body shape and routing wood blanks to wiring the complete electronics circuit and performing a final professional setup. The result is a fully playable instrument built entirely by hand.

Highlights

  • Designed the guitar body profile and cut from a solid wood blank using power tools and hand tools
  • Routed pickup cavities, neck pocket, and electronics control cavity to precise tolerances
  • Installed and dressed frets on the neck for consistent playability across all positions
  • Wired the complete electronics circuit: pickups, volume and tone potentiometers, 3-way selector switch, and output jack
  • Applied full wood finishing sequence: sanding progression, wood stain, and protective clear coat
  • Completed final guitar setup including intonation, string action adjustment, and truss rod tuning
